B. Archie Buchan
Novelist / Short Story Writer / Sports Writer

I already know how this story goes…
An author from England, living in Japan, I’m currently in the final stages of completing my 90,000 word debut novel, Into the Empty World. Read about it here and sign up for my newsletter for updates as and when they come!
During my time in Japan I’ve worked as a language advisor for NHK (National Broadcasting Corporation) and, after a decade-long career in MMA, as an event reporter for One Championship, Shooto and Deep.
Now I’m a high school writing teacher, as well as a short story and sports writer. I’ve been competing in the Writing Battle, Fish, Not Quite Write and Reedsy Contests and worked as preliminary judge for a prominent European short story competition, as well as having work published in a university showcase anthology. There are more details about my background on the About Me page here.
My favourite things are Mervyn Peake’s Gormenghast, unrequited love for my Bengal Cat, listening to The Cure, Rum and Coke, being disappointed by Arsenal, Christopher Lee films, Black Sails and The Office on TV and rewatching Kazushi Sakuraba fights.
Have a look around and if anything piques your interest, subscribe to my mailing list for free content and to keep up to date with what I’m doing. There should be a lot going on over the next year or so, so help yourself to free stuff and decide if you want more…
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, and thanks again for your interest. Happy reading!

Blog / Articles
Various things that I write for various reasons. Anecdotes, articles, reports, reviews, thoughts – basically more of my voice than anyone could be expected to tolerate, but in bite size.
